William Rosskamp, Jr.

March 5, 1943 — February 11, 2011

William Paul Rosskamp, Jr., 67, of Water Station Run Road, Lonaconing, died Friday, February 11, 2011, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland  with his wife and children by his side.
Bill was born March 5, 1943, to proud parents William Paul and Elsie E.   (Newell)  in Connellsville, PA.
Bill graduated from Fort Ashby High in 1961 and attended Potomac State College. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked in the family bait business, but he was most known for his career at Sears – especially in the hardware department.
Bill married Mary Margaret “Margie” Miller on December 18, 1971, and moved to Lonaconing.
He was an avid race fan. He also enjoyed fishing and watching his favorite basketball teams – the University of Maryland Terrapins and the Allegany College Trojans. His most cherished time, though, was spent with his wife, children, and his dog, Buddy.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Margie; daughter, Misty, Huntsville, AL; son, Travis, Nashville, TN; sister, Patricia Oster, Springfield; brother, James, Martinsburg; sister-in-law, Linda Rosskamp, Rawlings; two nephews, Davey Shriver (Bridgette and family), Fort Ashby; Rick Rosskamp (Tara and family), Short Gap; five nieces, Judy Shriver (son, Michael), Wiley Ford; Melody Litten (Joe and family), Winchester; Penny Crouse (Greg and family), Leesburg; Laurian Lucas (and family); Katrina Rosskamp (and family), Rawlings; numerous cousins; sisters-in-law, Theresa Hutcheson (Bob), Huntsville, AL; Lois Tow (Ron), Brainerd, MN; Dorothy Miller, Farwell, MI; Marilyn Miller, Farwell, MI; brothers-in-law, Glen Miller (Martha), Fayetteville, TN; Lawrence Miller (Dorothy), Aliquippa, PA; John “Jack” Miller (Juanita), Barton; Arlen Miller (Virginia), Frostburg; Curlee Miller (Debbie), Cumberland; together with all of their families, but he was Uncle Bill to many more.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his youngest brother, George; brother-in-law, Norman Oster; mother and father-in-law, Lawrence and Marabel Miller; brothers-in-law, William Miller and James Miller.
He was a member of the Frostburg congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Bill was a kind and loving husband, father, and friend. He always treated people with kindness and respect. His quick wit and unique way with words made a lasting impression on our lives. He was a shining example of what a man should be. He will be tremendously missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.
Family and Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, Lonaconing (www.eichhornmckenzie.com) on Sunday, February 13, 2011 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 10:00 AM with speaker Mr. Douglas Robertson officiating.
