William Nightingale

William Wesley Nightingale, 88, of McCulloh Street, Frostburg died Friday, February 8, 2019 at Rest Assured Assisted Living, Meyersdale, PA. Born on June 7, 1930 in Lonaconing he was the son of the late Daniel Nightingale and Agnes (Thompson) Nightingale.

He was preceded in death by his wife Donnie Nightingale, grandson Keith Nightingale, two sisters Norma Jean Daniels and Shirley Smith and two brothers Paul Nightingale and Bob Nightingale.

William was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Korean War, where he was a 2 ^nd Class Diver on the USS Greenlet. A graduate of Central High School he retired from ABL where he spent 35 years as a Security Lieutenant. He attended the LaVale Baptist Church.

He is survived by his children John Nightingale and wife Kathy of Short Gap, WV, Daniel Nightingale and wife Susie of Fort Ashby, WV, Paul Nightingale and wife Lee Ann of Frostburg; seven grandchildren Chris Gring, Jason Nightingale, Josh Nightingale, Karen Goodwin, Dustin Nightingale, Rebecca Nightingale and Corrie Preston and numerous great-grandchildren; one sister Louise Hott of Cumberland; three brothers Daniel Nightingale, Woodrow Nightingale and Jack Nightingale and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 4-6 PM. A memorial service will immediately follow at 6:00 PM with Rev. Jim Jeffries officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg.
