Vernon Green Jr.

Vernon Leander Green Jr., 72 of Douglas Avenue, Lonaconing died Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at UPMC Western Maryland, Cumberland. Born on September 24, 1948, he was the son of the late Vernon Leander Green Sr. and Gloria Emma (Neat) Green.

Vernon was a 1966 graduate of Valley High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Roadway, Hagerstown where he was employed as a dock worker. Methodist by faith, he was a member of Midland Grace United Methodist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed listening to Hank Williams music and watching John Wayne movies.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Judy Green, they were wed in 1967; two daughters, Christy Kidwell and husband David and Jessica Hamilton and husband Jamie; six grandchildren, Landen, Logen, Larissa, Lexi, Grayce and Ryleigh; a brother, Harry Green and wife Jolie and their son Asa Parker and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, July 5, 2021 from 2-5 PM at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing. A funeral service will follow at 5:00 PM with Pastor Shawn Shumaker. A private burial will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park.
