Thomas Marvin, Sr.

Thomas Michael Marvin, Sr., 65, of East Main Street, Lonaconing died peacefully Sunday, July 24, 2011 at his residence with his family by his side. Born on July 16, 1946 he was the son of the late Archie Scott Marvin and Lillian (Apple) Marvin.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Leslie Allan; one grandchild, Brandi Miller and his cat, Garfield.

He was Methodist by faith and had been a utility systems operations manager for the Celanese Fiber Corp. for 12 years. Tom requested that no picture be used in the paper, he wanted everyone to remember him as a happy, jolly man.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years Shirley Mae (Stafford) Marvin; two sons, Thomas M. Marvin, Jr. of Cumberland and Michael Marvin and wife Jennifer also of Cumberland; four stepchildren, David Miller of Gaithersburg, Daniel Miller and wife Amber of Fort Ashby, WV, Darren Miller and wife Terri of Oldtown and Debra High and husband Wally of Lonaconing; sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Marvin of Cumberland, David Marvin of Cumberland and Tim Marvin of Martinsburg, WV; two sisters, JoAnn Ryan of Cumberland and Susan Whitacre of Hagerstown; numerous nieces and nephews; a very special friend from childhood, Rich Kimmell and wife Nancy of Cumberland and his beloved cats, Simon and Wilson.

At his request he will be cremated and no services will be held. Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing assisted the family.
