With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Sharon Ann Dayton, who passed away peacefully on Monday, April 13, 2026, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, with her loving family by her side.
She was born on October 21, 1949, to the late Louis J. Nolan and George A. Nolan.
She was a proud graduate of Beall High School and went on to earn her Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Allegany College of Maryland. She dedicated many years of service to her career, first working at the Kelly and later in the prison system at Western Correctional Institution, where she retired.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles R. Dayton.
She leaves behind her loving children: Robert “Bob” Dayton, Leann Crowe and her husband Mike and stepchildren Jeremy and Jennifer Dayton.
She was the cherished grandmother of Lucas McKenzie, Jesel Crowe, and Holley Crowe, whom she absolutely adored. Her grandchildren brought immense joy to her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
She is also survived by her beloved siblings: Sandi Frenzel (late husband Tony), Mary Kay Robertson and her husband Dave, Fran Nolan, George Nolan and his wife Beverly, and John Nolan and his wife Donna.
She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, including Krista Nolan, George Nolan, Brian Nolan, Michele Lowe, Cindy Droneburg, Sierra Nolan, Tony Frenzel, and Donna Burke, all of whom absolutely adored her, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews who felt the same.As well as special cousins Marlene Allen and Jennifer Gosnell.
She especially loved family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren most of all. She never missed an opportunity to be with her family or celebrate special moments together. She was always there for everyone—offering love, support, comfort, and strength whenever it was needed. Her kindness and devotion to those she loved will never be forgotten.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 12:00– 2:00 PM at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland, Maryland. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Bob Ryan officiating. A reception will be held at her daughter’s home in Cresaptown, Maryland.
She will be remembered for her strength, devotion to her family, and the deep love she shared with all who knew her. Her presence brought warmth, comfort, and unwavering support, and she will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
