"Together Again"

Matilda Julieanne (Jenkins) Steele, 91, of Douglas Avenue, Lonaconing entered into her heavenly home Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from the Western Maryland Nursing and Rehab Center, Frostburg.
Matilda "Tillie" was born on February 21, 1921 in Gilmore to the late Joseph H. Jenkins and Elizabeth (Toll) Jenkins.
She was also preceded in death by her husband Garvin Steele, Sr. on December 21, 1999, six brothers, James, Edgar, Richard, Benjamin, Joseph and Harry and four sisters, Rebecka, Isabelle, Sara and Mary Martha.
She is survived by three sons, Garvin Jr. and wife Sherley of Jessup, James and wife Margaret of Front Royal, VA and Robert of Black River, NY and wife Susan of Lonaconing; two daughters, Sonja Thompson and husband Paul of Millville, NJ and Pamela Llewellyn and husband Gary of Lonaconing; eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Matilda was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing and graduate of Central High School. She was a homemaker but worked part time at the Lonaconing Health Center. Her main job was being a wife, mother, grandma and aunt. She was past president of Central Elementary PTA, Den Mother of Pack 26 Den 4, Assistant Girl Scout Leader of Barton Junior/Senior Girl Scouts and past member of George's Creek Ambulance Squad.
Family and Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home P.A. ( www.eichhornmckenzie.com ), Lonaconing on Friday, June 10, 2011 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held the funeral home on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Maxwell Greenfield officiating. Private interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland, MD.
The family would like to thank Dr. S. Gupta and his office staff, Dr. Singh and Dr. Sidhu and all the great staff at the rehab center, all of you left "Tillie" leave this world her own way and without pain.
