Marie Savage Riley, 98, of Lonaconing, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, at Egle Nursing and Rehab. Born on April 4, 1923, in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late P.R. Savage and Mary (Atkinson) Savage.
She was preceded in death by her son, Morgan Scott Riley; great-grandson, Brennen Riley; and her siblings, Russell Savage, William Savage, Scott Savage, Eleanor Nies, Margaret Moomaw and Estella Devlin.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Marie was a graduate of Central High School, Lonaconing, Class of 1941.
She retired as a federal civil service worker from the Department of Defense, Langley Air Force Base, Hampton, Va.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing, where she sang in the choir.
She was also a member of the September Singers, Senior Citizens of Lonaconing, and a former member of V.F.W. Alvin C. Neat Post 5280 Ladies Auxiliary.
In her spare time, Marie enjoyed playing the organ, but she especially loved time spent with friends and family.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Kevin Riley and wife, Becky, Kurtis Riley and wife, Laurie, and Kristie Gosiak and husband, Nicholas, all of Arizona; three great-grandchildren, Katie Riley, Riley Gosiak and Rori Gosiak, also of Arizona; numerous nieces and nephews, including special nephews, Bill Devlin and wife, Debbie, of Frostburg, and Tom Devlin and wife, Jenifer, of Lonaconing; and her daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Riley, of Arizona.
Memorial services will be held at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at Noon with the Rev. Bernadette Ross officiating.
Friends will be received one hour prior to services.
Inurnment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park at a later date.
The family thanks the staff of Egle Nursing and Rehab for the excellent care provided to Marie.
