Margaret Elsie (Durst) Fisher, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Frostburg Village Nursing Home. Margaret was born on January 31, 1923 in Elk Lick Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania to Sherman and Ruth Durst. She is the last surviving member of her family, being preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Floyd and Roy Durst. Her late husband William G. Fisher, two sons Paul and Robert and two grandchildren Michael and Annette Fisher also greeted her in heaven this morning.
Margaret is survived by one son, Thomas Fisher and wife Catherine Ann, Uniontown, OH; two daughters, Ruth Majek and husband Ralph, Piscataway, NJ and Nancy Rollman and husband Robert, Mt. Lake Park, MD; daughter-in-law, Donna Helton of Lonaconing: five grandchildren, Rhonda Carmosino (husband Scott), Amy Kenney, Brian Rollman (wife Misty), Kristen White (husband Ryan) and Sean Rollman; nine great-grandchildren, Megan Kenney, Morgan Kenney, Brandon Carmosino, Justin Carmosino, Jordon Carmosino, Robbie Rollman, Emma Rollman, Layla Rollman and Ella White.
Outside of the home, Margaret worked at Kyle Nursing Home in Lonaconing and as a nursing assistant at Sacred Heart Hospital in Cumberland. She was a faithful active member of First Assembly of God in Lonaconing, serving as Sunday school teacher and Women’s Ministries founder and leader.
Friends and family will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 2-5PM. A funeral service will be held at the First Assembly of God Church in Lonaconing on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at 3 PM with Rev. Robert Fletcher and Rev. George Loar officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lonaconing, MD. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to First Assembly of God Church at 17222 Assembly Lane SW, Lonaconing, MD 21539.
