Lewis Cecil Kenner, 86, of Midland passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Monday July 6, 2020. Born in Westernport, MD on September 19, 1933, he was a son of the late Jonas and Viola (Riggleman) Kenner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Helen P. (Blubaugh) Kenner after 51 years of marriage, two brothers; Robert Kenner and Charles Kenner and one sister-in-law; Frances (Crowe) Kenner.

Cecil is survived by six children; Tina P. Ruby and friend David Walker of Lonaconing, MD, James L. Kenner and wife Tammy of Mountain Lake Park, MD, Cecil Edward Kenner and wife Gail of Midland, MD, Lois C. Winters and friend TJ Harvey of Point Marion, PA, Thomas H. Kenner and wife Emerald of Raleigh, NC and Zachariah “Jack” Kenner of Windsor Mill, MD, thirteen grandchildren; Arissa Merrill of Frostburg, MD, Jessica Monahan – JR of Midland, MD, Woody Kenner – Sarah Broadwater of Grantsville, MD, Justin Kenner – Chris Archambault of Springfield, VA, John Ruby – Jamie of Beans Cove, PA, Kara Broadwater – Justin of Salisbury, PA, James Ruby – Nicole of Ridgeley, WV, Aaron Winters – Grace of Smithfield, VA, Carson Kenner – friend Tynesha of Midland, MD, Hannah Winters of Mount Savage, MD, Taylor Kenner of Raleigh, NC, Penelope Kenner of Raleigh, NC and Aaron Helms - Jeanine of Oakland, MD, thirteen great grandchildren, two brothers; Richard Kenner – Mary Ann of Midland, MD and Erwin Kenner – Diane of Swanton, MD and numerous nieces and nephews.

He worked at Kelly Springfield Tires for 26 years and was a Foster Parent for over 25 years.  Cecil was in the Fire Department Service for Tri-towns for 8 years and for Midland for 60 years, he was with the Fire Police for 20 years, a volunteer at Georges Creek Ambulance Service for 8 years, a Park Ranger at Dan’s Mountain State Park for 14 years, he collected tabs for the Ronald McDonald House also donating his time to Toys for Happiness, he umpired for Midland’s Youth Sports for many years, was Midland’s Weatherman for NBC25 Forecast Team and played Santa Claus for the Town of Midland for many years.  Cecil was a Lay Speaker at Grace United Methodist Church, Midland and a Sunday School Teacher for many years.  He was also a member of Bethel Holiness Church, Lonaconing.  Cecil enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Coffee Club at LaVale’s Walmart McDonald’s, where he loved talking to everyone he saw as he never met a stranger.

Family and Friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home P.A., Midland on Thursday, July 9, 2020 from 5:00PM-9:00PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday July 10, 2020 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Shawn Shumaker and Pastor David Schoch officiating. Interment will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg. Pall Bearers will be members of Midland Fire Company.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the hospice care workers who gave Cecil such exceptional care.
