Leon Cadwallader

Leon Roger Cadwallader, 85, of Miners Avenue, Frostburg, died Friday, May 7, 2021, at UMPC Western Maryland, Cumberland.
Born Nov. 6, 1935, in Gilmore, he was the son of the late Leo Cadwallader and Barbara (Garlitz) Cadwallader.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Cadwallader; two sisters, Mary Wilhelm and Cecelia Thrasher; and great-grandson,  Christopher "Isaac" Kissick and his canine companion Tobi.
Leon worked at the Kelly for 33 years; he then went on to manage The News gas station, where he was also known as the Allstar Chili and Vegetable Soup Chef.
He loved to garden and sit in the rocking chair on the porch.
A great and loving family man, his family was most important to him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Beverly (Iser) Cadwallader; four children, Lori Matteo, Tina Kissick, Leon "Jody" Cadwallader and wife, Rebekah, and Michael Cadwallader and wife, Carrie; 12 grandchildren, Miranda Cox, Lacey Harris and husband, Stewart, Christopher Kissick, Zachary Cadwallader, Matthew Kissick and Sarah, Nathan Cadwallader, Dakota Kissick, Steven Kissick, James "Jay" Cadwallader, Braylon Cadwallader, Brentley Cadwallader and Briyer Cadwallader;  8 great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Hetz;  brother, Robert Cadwallader and wife, Barbara; former son-in-law, Lynn Kissick; life-long friend and cousin, Sylvan Wiland and wife, Beverly and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland, on  Monday, May 10, 2021, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Mass of Christian burial will be held privately at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Tuesday, May 11, 2021 with Father Ed Hendricks officiating. Interment will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, and honorary pallbearer will be Sylvan Wiland.
The family thanks the staff of the ICU, PCU, physicians, and special thank you to Dr. Litman at UPCM Western Maryland for the great care provided to Leon.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Leon to St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 19925 Church St., Midland, MD 21532.
Leon will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
