Kenneth "Rocket" James Brantner, I, 60, of Spring Briar Lane went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at his home with his family at his side. Born May 15, 1950 in Keyser, WV he was the son of the late Leroy Brantner and Vivian Josephine (Kelly) Brantner.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Brantner.
He was a member of the Christ Memorial Baptist Church, Westernport where he was a long time Praise and Worship leader. A lifelong musician, he spent the last ten years serving the Lord with his music. He played guitar and sang vocals in the Christian rock band, Pressed For Time. He touched many lives, leading people to the Lord through his love of music and Jesus. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Rebecca Jean (Bittinger) Brantner; seven children, Keith Brantner and wife Cheryl of Westernport, Kevin Brantner of Westernport, Heather Brantner of Baltimore, Jessica Funk and husband Brian of McCoole, Joesaph Bittinger of Piedmont, WV, Scott Brantner of Keyser, WV and Kenneth "Peanut" Brantner, II at home; five grandchildren, Andrew Brantner, Isabel Brantner, Emmaleigh Rose Bittinger , Colton and Ethan Funk; one sister, Carol Riggleman of Westminster; two brothers, Francis Brantner and wife Connie of Cumberland and Don Brantner of Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends will be received at the Christ Memorial Baptist Church, Westernport on Friday, April 29, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held at the church on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Steffan Carr officiating. Interment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills. Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing (www.eichhornmckenzie.com) handled the arrangements.
