Kathryn Elaine Muir, 85, of Old Beechwood Road, Lonaconing died Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Egle Nursing Home. Born on October 15, 1933 in Lord, MD she was the daughter of the late Joseph O’Rourke and Kathryn (McKenzie) O’Rourke.
She was preceded in death by her son Dan Muir and a niece Sue Ann Nightingale.
Elaine was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Midland and a member of the Catholic Daughters. She was a graduate of Central High School and Sacred Heart School of Nursing. She was very proud of her nursing career and her Irish heritage. Her faith, family and friends were most important to her. A proud member of the Pink Ladies, she was an avid supporter of cancer awareness. Elaine was the happiest when the family was all together, and we have lots of fun memories.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years Jim Muir; six children Jim Muir and wife Sherry of Virginia Beach, VA, Maureen Dye and husband Butch of Lonaconing, Ed Muir and wife Robin of Bowie, MD, Mary Ellen Turner of Lonaconing, Kathy Foor and husband Tom of Bedford, MD and Joe Muir and wife Janine of Hurlock, MD; thirteen grandchildren Jimmy, Jesse, Jordan, Angie, Janel, Kate, Jennie, Matthew, Kristen, Kathi Jo, Michael, Jacob and Mackenzie; eleven great-grandchildren Jay, Quentin, Owen, Kailani, Clover Elaine, Issac, Garrett, Skylar, Sydney, Alyas and Maylin; sister Tillie Rivenbark and husband Dave of Suffolk, VA; nieces and nephew Penny, Christy, Diane and Mike and wonderful neighbors Jim and Betty Lou Winner.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 6-8 PM at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 11:00 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Midland with Father Ed Hendricks as celebrant. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
