June Stanton

June Patricia Stanton, 92, of Broadway Avenue, Midland, died on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born on April 23, 1926 in Klondike, she was the daughter of the late William Winner and Emma ( Hemming) Winner.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Stakem, Angela Carpenter, Edna Keiling, Alice Murray, Betty Lamb and Trellis Fair and brothers, Chalmer, David, James, Robert, George, Arthur and Aaron Winner. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

June was catholic by faith and member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Westernport. A 1943 graduate of Beall High School, she continued her education at the Allegany Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her R.N. in 1946.  She retired from her nursing career at the Celanese.

She is survived by her children, Betty Stanton of Midland, Dana Stanton and wife Jodi also of Midland, Patty O’Haver of Greencastle, PA and Mary K. Stanton of Westernport; 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, June 18, 2018 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 10:00AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Westernport with Father Eric Gauchat, OFM, Cap, celebrant. Interment will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Midland.

At the request of the family memorial donations may be made in memory of June to the George’s Creek Ambulance Service at 19 Union Street, Lonaconing, MD 21539 or St. Peter’s Catholic Church at 127 Church Street, Westernport, MD 21562.

The family would like to thank the staff of WMRMC ICU, Dr. Sprenkle, Dr. Ahmed, Dr. Curran and the Egle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care June was given.
