Juanita Miller

November 6, 1943 — January 19, 2013

Juanita E.(Llewellyn) Miller, 69 of Barton Maryland, passed away in her family home, in the arms of her husband and surrounded by her children, on January 19, 2013, after a 6-year battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jack Miller, by her four children, Jay Miller and wife Marcia, Jessi Miller-Maness and husband Luke, Joseph Miller and wife Amy and Jed Miller and wife Carmen; also by 9 grandchildren, and two brothers, Sylvan and Gene Llewellyn.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Laverne Llewellyn, Leona Miller, Virginia Duckworth and Lillian Hartman, as well as by two brothers, Calvin and Lattie Llewellyn.

Juanita was the daughter of the late Dewey C. Llewellyn and Nellie Broadwater-Llewellyn, also of Barton, MD, and graduated in 1961 from Valley High School.

She loved color and always said that her dad, Dewey, was never afraid of color, and neither was she. She collected glass in many colors (blue being her favorite), and enjoyed displaying it for her family and friends in her home. She loved flowers, music, and was a faithful witness of Jehovah God and one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for nearly 56 years. From the time her children were very young, Juanita instilled in each of them the value of serving God as well as the joy of playing and singing music. She played the piano very well from an early age – (having only learned to play by ear) - and could play nearly any song after hearing it only one time. She also loved the ocean and it was always a dream of hers to visit the Caribbean where she could see the beautiful blue-green waters she’d so often seen on post cards or other photographs. Juanita didn’t believe in showing up anywhere empty handed. If visiting a friend, she’d likely show up with some coconut cake and perhaps even some coffee…another two of her favorite things.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in McCoole, Maryland, on Saturday, January, 26, 2013 at 3pm, with visitors welcomed an hour prior, as well as a visitation following at the Barton Fire hall at 4pm. Refreshments will be served. Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing (www.eichhornmckenzie.com) handled the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juanita E. Miller Memorial Fund, and sent to: P.O. Box 209, Barton, MD 21521.

Juanita was a loyal and loving wife and mom, and a true and inspiring friend. She will be sorely missed.
