John “Tom” Thomas Shockey, 72, of Rockville Street, died Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at UPMC Western Maryland, Cumberland. Born on February 9, 1949 he was the son of the late Thomas E. Shockey and Wanda J. (Wilson) Shockey.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeanie Shockey on February 8, 2020 and a daughter-in-law, Tammie Shockey.
Tom was a 1967 graduate of Valley High School. He worked at the Kelly for many years before owning and operating Marshall’s Confectionary, alongside his wife; while also working for the Board of Education as a custodian. Tom was an avid Boston sports fan. He enjoyed his daily walks with his walking buddies, Jim Ritchie and Bruce Muir. He was a regular attendee of the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing.
He is survived by his sons, Tommy Shockey and wife Carla and Chris Shockey and wife Stacey; four grandchildren, Evan, Haylee and fiancé Alex Staggs, Caden and Cameron; step-granddaughter Codi Sines and husband Josh and their son Easton; siblings, Cindy Smith and husband Billy, Denny Shockey, Wayne Shockey and wife Marian and Steve Shockey and wife Vickie and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, February 6, 2022 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Private Interment will be held at Mt. View Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
At the request of the family memorial donations may be made in memory of Tom to the First Presbyterian Church at 1 East Street, Lonaconing, MD 21539.
