John Gardner Getty, 58, of East Main Street, Lonaconing died Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Conemaugh Hospital, Johnstown, PA. Born on December 23, 1957 in Cumberland he was the son of the late John O. Getty and Jean (Gardner) Getty.
John was a 1976 graduate of Valley High School. He was a past member of the Good Will Volunteer Fire Co. and the George’s Creek Cruisers, Lonaconing. He was a fan of classic cars.
He is survived by his daughter, Annie Elizabeth Getty at home; two step-sons, Ray Jackson of Cocoa, FL and Brian Jackson of Silver Spring; one sister, Reba Niland and husband Jim of LaVale and three nieces, Abbey Niland, Jenny Rex and husband Ed and Marney VanGarven and husband Chris. He also leaves behind many friends.
Family and friends will be received at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Monday, June 13, 2016 from 1PM-3PM. A memorial service will follow at 3:00PM with Rev. Thomas Morgan officiating. Inurnment will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg at a later date.
