James Wilson

James Henry Wilson, 78, went to be his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 in Hahnbach, Germany. Born in Lonaconing on April 15, 1938 he was the son of the late Joseph Arthur Wilson and Mary Catherine (Beeman) Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his stepson Fred Mortl and his granddaughter Melanie Mortl. He was also preceded death by five sisters, Marie Newberry, Mildred Rhine, Margaret Morgan, Edith Wilson and Mary Ellen Brant and five brothers, Roy Wilson, Howard Wilson, Bill Wilson, David Wilson and Joe Wilson.
James worked for the US Postal Service and was a United States Army Veteran.  He retired with the rank of Staff Sargent after 30 years of service. He had past been stationed at West Point, New York, Fort Knox, Kentucky, Frankfurt and Vilseck Germany. He served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. He was a decorated veteran and his medals were: Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal 3rd Award, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal 3rd Award with one Valor, Bronze Star with Valor. He also earned a Weapon Qualification Badge, he was an expert marksman.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gisela and great-grandson, Jason; brother, George Wilson of Lonaconing; sister, JoAnn Leach and husband Tom of Lonaconing and many nieces and nephews, including a very special nephew and niece, Dennis Wilson and Stacey Brant-Whetzel that he loved very much.
A memorial service will be held at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Lonaconing. Family and friends will be received at the church on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Pastor George Loar and Pastor Dave Schoch officiating. Interment will be held in Hahnbach, Germany on Thursday, September 15, 2015; full military honors will be accorded.
