Isabel Moses

September 17, 1918 — November 14, 2016

Isabel Eilbeck Moses, age 98, a former resident of Frostburg Heights Apartments and Lonaconing, passed away on November 14, 2016 at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born September 17, 1918, in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of John and Isabella Glenn Eilbeck.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell (Jake) Moses; two sisters, Margaret Eilbeck Hutcheson, and Mary Eilbeck Muir, Denver, Colorado; niece and nephew, Mary Jane Muir Littlewood, Laramie, Wyoming and Jack Muir, Milledgeville, Tennessee.

She is survived by her daughter Jean Lynn Moses Harden and husband Robert, Cumberland; step children Isa Harden McGann, Brandon Harden and Drake Harden, Cumberland; step grandchildren Evan, Kaleb, Dradon, Karson and Landry Harden and Morgan Cranford; nieces Linda Muir Coffin, Fort Collins, Colorado, Joann Muir Ramirez, Aurora, Colorado and their families.

Isabel was the longest living member at the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing, where she had served as deacon and elder.

Isabel was a Past Matron and 60-year member of Martha Washington Chapter #10, Order of the Eastern Star, Lonaconing where she served as secretary for 24 years.  She served as Deputy Grand Lecturer in the Eastern Star for many years and was a Past Grand Officer of the Grand Chapter of Maryland Order of the Eastern Star.  She was a member of the Grand Cross of Color, International Order of Rainbow Girls.  She was a Past Queen of Re Temple #118 Daughters of the Nile, Cumberland.  She was past chief and life member of the Morning Star Temple #1 Pythian Sisters, Lonaconing.

After graduating from Central High School in Lonaconing, she was employed at the General Textiles Mills in Lonaconing and as a lab assistant at the Celanese Corporation.  In 1946, she and her husband, along with her parents, purchased the White Way Inn in Lonaconing, which she managed for 37 years.

After her retirement, she volunteered with the WIC program for the Allegany County Health Department and at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home Gift Shop.

Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 4PM-7PM.  A memorial service will be held by Mountain Chapter #15 Order of the Eastern Star at 6:00PM. A funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 11:00AM with Rev. Thomas Morgan officiating. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland. At her request, there will be no graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 216, Lonaconing, MD  21539.

A special thank you to the staff at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center for the excellent and compassionate care they provided and to her special friend, Bobbie James, for her love and support while she was at Egle.
