Inez Kiddy Neff

March 29, 1924 — September 20, 2013

Inez Jeanetta Kiddy Neff, 89, of Lonaconing passed away Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 29, 1924 in Pekin, MD she was the daughter of the late Stanley David and Margaret Frances (Beeman) Muir.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Earl Junior Kiddy and William Neff, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William Stanley Muir and sister, Audrey Martina (Muir) Sloan, a step-son, William Neff , an infant brother and two infant sisters.

Inez was a graduate of Central High School, Lonaconing. She worked at Sears and the Register of Wills office in Cumberland for many years following the death of her first husband. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing, where she was an active member of the Miriam Circle. She was also a member of Martha Washington Chapter #10 Order of the Eastern Star and a 50 year member of Morning Star Temple No. 1 of the Pythian Sisters.

She is survived by her brother Amel Muir, Lonaconing, her children, Ray Kiddy and wife Irene of LaVale, Keith Kiddy and wife Amy, Lonaconing, Darlene (Kiddy) Grove and husband Mike, Lonaconing, Marlene (Kiddy) Diehl and husband Ernie, Port Republic, MD, Douglas Kiddy and wife Melanie, LaVale and her step-daughter-in-law, Cindy Neff, Westernport; grandchildren, Jason Kiddy and wife Annette, Gambrills, MD, Jodi Kiddy and husband Franklin, LaVale, Justin Kiddy and wife Melissa, Mt. Pleasant, SC, Jeremy Kiddy and wife Mindy, Midland, Brian Grove and wife Shana, Lonaconing, Christopher Diehl, Port Republic, MD, Nathan Diehl and wife Cynthia, St. Leonard, MD, Ian and Eli Kiddy, both of LaVale and Christie and Katie Neff; great-grandchildren, Alaric, Adeline and Alistair Kiddy, Wesley Mason, Mackenzie and Sienna Kiddy, Logan and Kylee Kiddy, Ava Lewis, Kinley Grove, Scarlet Diehl and Tupelo. She is also survived by a special brother-in-law, Kenny Kiddy whom she helped raise.


Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A memorial service will be held by Martha Washington Chapter #10 Order of the Eastern Star at 6:15 PM and Morning Star Temple No. 1 of the Pythian Sisters at 7:45 PM . A funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Thomas Morgan officiating. Interment will be held at Mt. View Cemetery, Moscow Mills, MD.

Inez's grandsons will be pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing.

The family wishes to thank her caregivers for the special care provided over the past year that allowed her to remain in her home and to the staff of the Egle Nursing Home, for taking such good care of her during her final weeks.

Inez's greatest joy and accomplishment was her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family, it didn't matter if it was a football game or a dance recital, she always attended. While we mourn her loss, we take comfort in knowing she is now in a far better place.
