Helen M. Smith, 97, of Lonaconing passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center.
Helen was the daughter of Maria and Raymond Goodwin. She was preceded in death by husband Sam Smith, daughter Arlene Beeman, grandson Larry Beeman, sister Colleen Kuhn and brother Raymond Austin Goodwin.
She is survived by three sons, Jim McKinley (Donna), Ronnie Smith (Linda) and Wayne Smith; two daughters, Sandra McKinley Doyle and Bette Smith Dawson (Tom). She also left behind one sister, Phyllis Rankin, and one brother, Leslie Goodwin.
Helen was a wonderful mother and grandmother, always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. She loved her family above all else and was extremely proud of her 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren (with another due in May) and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She always had a smile and a kind word for everyone and her sense of humor was with her till the end. She will be in our hearts forever.
A memorial service will be held at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A. on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 2:00PM with Rev. Fred Iser and Pastor Wayne Sloan officiating. Family and Friends will be received one hour prior from 1-2PM.
At the request of the family donations may be sent in her memory to Egle Nursing and Rehab Center Therapy Department at 57 Jackson Street, Lonaconing, MD 21539.
