Harry Richard Gattens

Harry Richard Gattens, 77, of Lonaconing, died Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Sterling Care Frostburg Village. Born on February 22, 1948 in Keyser, WV, he was the son of the late Elmer Frederick Gattens and Mary Catherine (Foutz) Gattens.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Gattens.

Dick retired as a custodian from the Board of Education. He also worked as a dragline operator for most of his working career for various coal companies. In his spare time, he really enjoyed woodworking.

He leaves behind his wife, Brenda Gattens; two daughters, Julie Ann Harvey and Patty Sue Hanlin; four grandchildren and he was like a grandfather to four more grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharon Wright and husband Bob, Cindy Youngblood and husband Harry and Teri Lavin; brothers, Charles Gattens and wife Shirley and Fred Gattens; an Uncle, Gene “Buggs” Foutz and wife Diane and numerous nieces and nephews.

As per Dick's request, he will be cremated and no services will be held. He is in the care of Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing.
