G. Aaron Winters, 81, of Shaft, passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at his residence.
The son of George “Bazz” and Muriel “Perk” Winters, he was born March 28, 1937 in Carlos. Mr. Winters was preceded in death by his parents.
Aaron is survived and embraced by the love and caring presence of his dear wife of 60 years Rosie; children Rick and Marianne Winters of Steven City, VA, Diane and Don Bennett of Shaft, Barry and Pattysue Winters of Mt. Savage and Daron and Stacy Winters of Gilmore; a sister Judy and Charlie Ballases of Midlothian and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Aaron retired from the Allegany County Utilities Division. He attended Trinity Assembly of God Church, Midlothian. He was a 63 year member of the Shaft Vol. Fire Co., where he served as President, Secretary, Trustee, Delegate and Chaplin and was Fire Chief for 14 years. He also served the Maryland State Fireman’s Association Safety Committee for 17 years. He was Past President of the Allegany Garrett County Firemen’s Association. He also served on the Board of Directions for the Shaft/Carlos Water Dept.
He was a graduate of Beall High School class of 1955 and served in the Army National Guard.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Assembly of God Church, Midlothian with Pastor Rob Culler officiating. Interment will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park.
At the request of the family donations be made in memory of Aaron to the Shaft Vol. Fire Co. at 19303 Shaft Rd. SW, Frostburg, MD 21532.
