Eugene "Buddy" Thrasher, 76, of Thrasher Lane, Midland died Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at his residence.  Born on October 11, 1937 in Midland he was the son of the late John Nelson Thrasher and Pansy (Fazenbaker) Thrasher.

His life experiences include: working for his brother, Jim and delivering milk with his brothers, Lorraine and Ernest. He was the co-owner of Thrasher Coal Company and T+L Coal Company. He was employed by Tower Resources Company. A member of the Local 37, he worked as a machine operator, crane operator on many jobs throughout the region.

Buddy was a Lifetime Member of the Midland Volunteer Fire Company with over 25 years service. He served the fire company and his community in many ways; bingo every Thursday and President of the Fire Company.  He served as President of Midland Volunteer Fire Company for over 20 years, the longest term a single person has ever served. He was honored as  Fireman of the Year in 1988 and 2003.

Buddy was a man who could do pretty much anything you needed, sometimes not in the conventional way, but he could make it work. If it was broke, he could fix it. He was always available to help the town when needed with ballpark projects and snow removal.

His joy in life was his family. He was always there to help when needed. His second love in life was farming and animals.
