Edison Smith

Edison Porter Smith, 86, of Old Beechwood Road, Lonaconing died Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport.  Born in Garrett County on August 9, 1928 he was the son of the late Porter Smith and Christina (Broadwater) Smith. He was raised by his late grandmother, Ida Broadwater.

He was preceded in death by his four brothers, Melvin, Charles and Harold  Smith and Robert DeWitt.

Edison was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Lonaconing. A resident of Moran Manor, he enjoyed partaking in the activities and socializing with the other residents. He was also a member of the Lonaconing Senior Citizens.

He is survived by his sister, Virginia Smith of Hagerstown and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Friday, October 10, 2014 from 2-4PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00 PM with Rev. George Loar officiating. Interment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
