Donald M. Green, Sr., 79, of Fayette Street, Cumberland died Monday, January 19, 2015 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland. Born on December 28, 1935 in Lonaconing he was the son of the late John Edward Green and Mary Catherine (Amann) Green.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald Michael Green; five of his siblings and their spouses, Jack Green, Vonnie and Jim Kirk, Ann and Jim Proudfoot, Pat and Bob Cutter, Mary Catherine and Bobby Evans; son-in-law, Larry Beeman; brother-in-law, Paul McFarlane; mother-in-law, LeMoyne Hamilton Bean, and the mother of his children, Rhea Ann (McCormick) Green Muir.
Donnie was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Korean War. He was Catholic by faith and a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, The Shrine of Saints Peter and Paul, Cumberland. He retired as caretaker of Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery and he spent many years handling the custodial and maintenance duties for the church.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joy (Hamilton) Green; his two children, Becki Beeman of Lonaconing and Marc Green and wife Connie also of Lonaconing; six grandchildren, Travis Beeman and Kaitlyn Fuzie of Frostburg, Jennifer Harvey and husband Eric of Lonaconing, Jessica Morris and husband Matt of Bloomington, Trevor Green, Zach Green and Madison Green all of Lonaconing; one great-grandson, Hunter Harvey of Lonaconing; one sister, Joyce Ramey and husband Van of Oakton, VA; brothers-in-law, Jim Bean of Midland, Charles Bean and wife Laura of Markleysburg, PA; sisters-in-law, Helen Green of Laurel and Mary McFarlane of Gilmore and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, The Shrine of Saints Peter and Paul, Cumberland with Father Gregory Chervenak O.F.M. Cap., celebrant. Interment will be held at Saint Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Westernport.
