David Lee Ritchie

David Lee “DL” Ritchie, 92, of Lonaconing died Friday, July 25, 2025 at Egle Nursing Home. Born on March 19,1933 in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late David Wallace Ritchie and Minta Cecelia (Dawson) Ritchie. He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald John Ritchie.

David was a veteran of the U.S. Army and graduated from Central High school in 1951. DL owned and operated Ritchie’s grocery store in Barton for over 40 years. He loved to garden, do yardwork and was an all-around handyman. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at Deep Creek Lake, where a boat that he built in 1961 is still running today.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eleanor (Timney) one son, David Ritchie and wife Amy (Richmond), two grandsons, David "DJ" Ritchie and wife Brionna, Lucas Ritchie and fiancé Abbey Nebelski, sister-in-law Angela (Winkler) Ritchie and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends and Family will be received Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 2-4 PM at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home P.A. Lonaconing, MD. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 4 PM with Pastor David Schoch officiating.
