Dallas Ours Jr.

Dallas Bernard Ours Jr., 70, of Water Street, Barton died Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving wife and five children. Born on July 23, 1948 in Frostburg he was the son of the late Dallas Bernard Ours Sr, and Clara (Gowans) Metz.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Vietnam War. A 1966 graduate of Valley High School, he worked as a coal miner for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to winter camp at Elk Lick with the “10 below and away we go crew”. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.  He was also a member of the Barton American Legion Post #189.

Dallas is survived by his beloved wife Gloria Ours, they would have been married for 48 years in December. He is also survived by his children Tammy Moyer and husband Larry of Barton, Tracie Martin and husband Jimmy of Lonaconing, Theresa Readd and husband Shannon of Short Gap, Trisha Golston and husband Ali of Georgia and Daniel Ours and wife Gabby of Cumberland; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; siblings Mary Ausherman and husband Butch, Barbara Ritter and husband Bob, David, Cricket, Ellen and Rose and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his pride and joy, Diesel, his canine companion.

A memorial dinner will be held on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Barton Firehall. Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing assisted the family.
