Charles Edward Phillips, 82, of Charlestown Road, Lonaconing died Saturday December 6, 2014 at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing. Born on August 30, 1924 in Lonaconing he was the son of the late Thomas A. Phillips and Isabelle (Spiker) Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Hazel Rogish, Katherine Smith and Melvin Phillips and a nephew, Arland Phillips. Charles was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Charles was Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He was a graduate of Central High School and retired from Westvaco Corp. after 36 years of service in the lead core room.
He is survived by nephews and nieces, John "Jake" Smith and wife Donna, Shirley Farrell and husband Bob, Kenneth Smith and wife Ester and Penny Ryan and husband Earl and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
At Charles request he will be cremated. Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing handled the arrangements.
