Charles Craig Marsh, 73, of Church Street, Lonaconing, died Monday, April 13, 2026 at his residence. Born on October 15, 1952 in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late Elmer Abbott Marsh and Leah Jo (Dudley) Marsh.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Merillee Marsh and a daughter, Misty Autumn Marsh.
Craig was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing. He was a 1970 graduate of Valley High School and continued his education at Allegany College of Maryland in the Criminal Justice program. He worked as a correctional officer at WCI until his retirement.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War and the American Legion.
He is survived by three daughters, Caralene Marsh-Edleblute and husband Mark of Falling Waters, WV, Lydia Huntzberry and husband Chris of Hagerstown, MD, and Jessica Marsh and wife Hana of Falling Waters WV; four grandchildren, Dylan Donnelly, Victoria Kellog, Leah “Maeve” Marsh, and Eleanor Marsh; a sister, Louise Ann Simon and husband John of South Lake Tahoe, CA; a brother, Gary Marsh and wife Doris of Frostburg, MD; nieces and nephews, Joe Marsh, Kristina Marsh, Derek Simon, and Leah Simon-Fields. Craig also leaves behind his precious dog, Becca, who brought him great joy and companionship.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing, Rev. Thomas Morgan will be officiating. Family and friends will be received one hour prior. Inurnment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland and military rites will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of America, Cumberland Chapter #172.
At the request of the family memorial donations may be made in memory of Craig to the Garrett County Animal Shelter at 152 Oakland Sang Run Road, Oakland, MD 21550, 301-334-3553.
