Catharine Payne

Catharine Ellen Payne, 82, of Oakwood Street, Cresaptown died Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland. Born on February 17, 1935 in Lonaconing she was the daughter of Catharine (McGee) Whiteman and the late William “Bill” Whiteman.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Harold Bray, her second husband, Francis Scott Payne, two children, Richard Lee Bray and Donald Harold Bray and a sister, Donna Jean Sexton.

Catharine was a member of the First Assembly of God, Lonaconing. She had worked in logistics for the Department of Defense.

She is survived by two children, Mervin Allen Bray and wife Laura of Elkton, VA and Denise Marie Roach of Warrenton, VA; nine grandchildren, David Lee Bray, Douglas William Bray and wife Nina, Eric Michael Bray and wife Monique, Leslie Warren Bray, Troy Evan Bray, Jessica Ellen Payne, Christopher Allen Meyer, Samantha Ashley Meyer and Stephen Michael Meyer; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Thelma Louis Foutz and three brothers, William J. Whiteman and wife Judy, Phillip Allen Whiteman and wife Doris and Stanley John Whiteman and wife Vicky; daughter-in-law, Clarice Bray;  three aunts, Jean, Alice and Nonie and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 6-8PM. A funeral service will be held at the First Assembly of God, Lonaconing on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 11:00AM with Rev. Robert Fletcher officiating. Interment will be held at Warrenton Cemetery, Warrenton, VA on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 1:00PM.
