Carl Schurg Sr.

Carl Wayne Schurg Sr., 74, of Methodist Church Street, Midland died Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland. Born in Midland on November 27, 1944 he was the son of the late Raymond Schurg and Virginia Dolly (Hunt) Schurg.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Edward and Dale Schurg.

A 1963 graduate of Beall High School, Carl was a maintenance technician for Western Maryland Health System for many years. He was very interested in the maintenance field; very inquisitive and loved to tinker around with things. He was also an avid Pittsburg Steelers Fan. He was a great husband, dad, grandfather and friend to many.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years Mary Ann Schurg; his son Carl Schurg and wife Terri of New Market; two grandchildren Matthew Schurg and wife Hayley and Morgan and husband Jacob Trumbule; one great-granddaughter Caroline Schurg; two sisters Rosie Giffin and Anna Jean Castle and husband John all of Hagerstown; one brother Richard Schurg and wife Rose of Meyersdale, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by best friends and buddies Matthew and Missy Wilhelm, Luke and Brooke Wilhelm, Sean and Julie Kenny,  Shawn and Jennifer Shumaker, Adam and Sara Wilhelm and John and Lindsie Wilhelm and his special girls Annabelle, Sophie, Leila, Chloe, Alayna and Brianna.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 11 AM– 1 PM at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Shawn Shumaker officiating. Interment will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg. Pallbearers will be Sean Kenny, Matthew Schurg, Matthew Wilhelm, Luke Wilhelm, Jacob Trumbule and Donald Schurg.
