Bonnie Holshey

January 11, 1967 — May 9, 2021

Bonnie Sue (McKenzie) Holshey, 54, of Washington Street, Lonaconing died Sunday, May 9, 2021 at her home in the arms of her loving husband, Gary, with her daughters, Tara and Jenna at her side after fighting a long hard battle with Kidney Cancer. Born on January 11, 1967 in Cumberland she was the daughter of Donald McKenzie and the late Margaret (Bogie) McKenzie.

Bonnie was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing. A 1985 graduate of Valley High School, she furthered her education at Allegany College of Maryland and Frostburg State University; where she earned her Master’s in Business Education. She went on to work for Allegany County Board of Education as a secretary, retiring after 30 years from Mountain Ridge High School. A member of the Good Will Fire Co. and Ladies Auxiliary, Bonnie had been a member for nearly 30 years. She was also a member of the George’s Creek Sorority Sisters. In her spare time Bonnie loved to go to the beach, it did not matter the time of year.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 27 years, Gary Holshey, having been together for a total of 38 years; he never left her side; two loving daughters, Tara and Jenna; her father, Donald McKenzie; a sister, Donna Jean Ryan and husband Russ; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Biff Thompson; two nephews, Luke Thompson and special friend Megan and Mitch Thompson; special friend to her daughters, Baylee Mowbray and many great friends, especially the “Dirty Dozen”.

Friends will be received at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 6-9 PM. A memorial service will be held jointly by local Fire Companies and Ladies Auxiliaries at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Thomas Morgan officiating. Interment will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg.

The family would like to thank Hospice, Dr. Zaman, Dr. Ahmed and especially the “Dirty Dozen” for the care and support given to Bonnie.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Bonnie to the Good Will Ladies Auxiliary, C/O Barbara Lamberson at 16012 Rockville St., Lonaconing, MD 21539 and the Pink Ladies/ACS at 15803 Rockville St., Lonaconing, MD 21539.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Ternent, Les Broadwater, Pat Stakem, Dennis Loar, Bobby Ritchie and Tim Fazenbaker and honorary pallbearer will be William “W” Beechie looking down from Heaven.
