Barbara Jean (Burt) Daniel, 81, of Lonaconing died August 27th, 2011 in Fort

Walton Beach , FL .

Born in Lonaconing , MD on 15 June 1930 , she was the daughter of James R . Burt and Jane F.

(Ritchie) Burt.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Charles E . Daniel Sr. of Lonaconing, her brother Kenneth R . Burt , of Midland , and her son - in-law Larry A . Knapp of Oviedo , FL .

Barbara graduated in 1948 from Central High School , Lonaconing and graduated from Memorial School of Nursing in 1951. Through her life as a military wife she traveled throughout the US and Japan . She used her nursing sk i ll s last at Frostburg Village . Along with her husband they were actively involved with the Disab l ed American Veterans and Auxiliary programs for many years. She was past DAVA Commander Ft . Washington Unit 2, Cumberland Maryland . Some may remember her for her wreaths she loved to make, coffee breaks and the parties they helped with at the VA clinics in Cumberland and Martinsburg. After many years of health problems they both retired and took care of each other , eventually coming back to Florida and residing w i th Jeanie and Carl .

She was actively attending First Presbyterian Church in Fort Walton Beach , FL

She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing.

She is survived by her daughters, Jane Louise Knapp, Oviedo , FL , Charlene Jean "JC" Caughman and husband Carl , Fort Walton Beach , FL ; and her son Charles E . Daniel Jr. and wife Heather, Euless , Texas

Grandchildren , Jeanie (Wes) Coots, Heather (Scott) Ogden, Paul Jacob Daniel, Rachel Daniel , Sara Daniel, Rebecca Knapp, and Jenny Montgomery.

Great Grandchildren, Peyton Coots, Abigail and Rachel Rose Ogden , Jake and Alice Daniel , Ben Daniel, Savannah Herndon.

She is also survived by n umerous nieces and nephew s .

Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home P.A . (www.eichhornmckenzie.

com), Lonaconing on Friday, September 2, 2011 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM . A funeral service will b e conducted at the funeral home on Friday, September 2 ,2011 at 11 a.m . w i th the Rev. Thomas Morgan officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to service .

Private interment will be in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery , Rocky Gap, Flintstone.
