Arra Bishop

Arra M. Bishop, 85, of Sam Snead Circle, Oakland, died Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Dennett Road Manor, Oakland. Born in Lonaconing on October 8, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Alban and Bessie (Ritchie) Bishop.

She was preceded in death by a sister Martha Gross and two nephews Robert and Michael Gross.

A graduate of Central High School and Frostburg State College, Arra taught in Montgomery County Schools for thirty years. She received her Master’s Degree from American University. She belonged to the Montgomery County Teachers Association, Maryland State Teachers Association and the National Educators Association. She was a life member of First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing.

She moved to Oakland in 1985, where she resided with her sister, Anna Bishop whom she is survived by. She is also survived by her nephew Lennie Gross and wife Bari of Plainview, NY.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 1-2 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2 PM.  Interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lonaconing.
