Allan Lee Brode of Grantsville, MD passed away suddenly on June 18, 2015. Born January 6, 1942 in Lonaconing, MD, he was the son of the late Howard and Evelyn Mae (Moore) Brode.
In addition to his parents, Allan was preceded in death by two brothers Howard Jr. and William and a sister-in-law, Dorothy.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Meriam; daughter Jennifer; son Jeffrey and wife Karen; grandchildren Joshua and Avery; brothers John, Paul and his wife Norma and Robert and his wife Sadie; a sister Thelma and her husband Ernie; nieces and nephews Richard, Ernie, Sheila, Tom, David, John Jr., Todd, Scott, Keith, William Jr., Joy, Larry and Mark.
Allan will be fondly remembered for his kind heart and love for his family, along with his quick wit and sense of humor; which allowed him to make friends with anyone he came in contact with. An avid nature lover and outdoorsman, Allan never let a day go by without reveling in the beauty of his Western Maryland surroundings. He was a 1960 graduate of Valley High School in Lonaconing, MD and a former member of McCoole Volunteer Fire Department. Allan retired from Westvaco in 2001, thereafter moving to his Grantsville home.
Allan appreciated the beauty in every living creature, spending time watching wildlife and sharing his days with his loving wife. Allan adored his family, bringing joy and laughter to those around him. His smile and genuine nature made it very hard not to remain close to him. Allan was a wonderful father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, leaving behind so many memories to cherish.
