Catherine Arlene Cook, 73, of Florida Way, Lonaconing died Friday, July 6, 2012 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland. Born in Westernport on July 30, 1938 she was the daughter of the late, James Jones and Mary Catherine (Gardner) Jones.

She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Archie and Violet Cook, sister-in-law, Ruth Jones and nephew, Donald Cook, Jr.

Catherine was a 1956 graduate of Valley High School. She was Methodist by faith and had taught a kindergarten Sunday school class for 12 years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers, Maryland Terps basketball and TV game shows.  She was also a part of the Dan's Mountain Volunteer Team.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years Gerald S. Cook, they were married on June 26, 1959; her son, Gerald James Cook at home; one brother, James Jones of Covington, GA and one sister, Evelyn Trenum and husband Francis "Sonny" of Barton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald "Frosty" Cook and wife Elizabeth "Libby" of  Frostburg and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Flora "Flo" Lease and husband Paul of LaVale; nieces and nephews, Mary Jane Dye and husband Herbie, Amy Patton and Husband Tom, Gary Joe Trenum and wife Annie, Kendra Mayfield and husband Lee, Paul Lease, Jr. and wife Annie, Reba Burker and husband Bob and Janet Lucas; several great-nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew. She also leaves behind close friends, Ed and Mae Nolan of LaVale and Joe and Linda Inskeep of Lonaconing and many others.

Family and Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home P.A. (www.eichhornmckenzie.com), Lonaconing on Sunday, July 8, 2012 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Bernadette Ross. Interment will be held at Mt. View Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
